In the spirit of our mission to Make Lives Better, we are proud to once again, partner with The Morning Blend on TJMJ4 for our program, The Morning Blend Gives Back with Bank Five Nine. Throughout the year, we will highlight non-profit organizations by profiling them on air! Additionally, we will donate $1,000 to each organization. The organizations we feature will be a combination of those we select ourselves and those nominated, and voted on, by the public. Check out this page to see who we've highlighted and what's next!

 

2021

January

Your Choice was the recipient of $1,000 and a segment with The Morning Blend. They are an organization that provides drug and alcohol prevention education, intervention and support programs to students, parents, teachers, and community members.

December

Friendship Circle of Wisconsin was the winner, voted for by the public, and recipient of $1,000 and a segment with The Morning Blend. They provide support, friendship and opportunities to include people with all varying abilities in our community. Friendship Circle encourages an inclusive community where all individuals are valued regardless of their background or challenges they may face.

November

The nominees have been selected for our next round of voting, and the top five organizations are:

  • MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary, Inc.

October

The Women's Center was the recipient of $1,000 and a segment with The Morning Blend. Their mission is to provide safety, shelter and support to empower all impacted by domestic abuse, sexual violence, child abuse and trafficking. They are Waukesha County's only agency of its kind in a county that spans 580 square miles.

 

September

Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin was the winner, voted for by the public, and recipient of $1,000 and a segment with The Morning Blend. They are committed to assisting homeless and at-risk veterans strive for normalcy by providing food, clothing, shelter, and other basic human needs. Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin believes in giving back to those who have given so much to us.

Next Door was the recipient of $1,000 and a segment with The Morning Blend. They are an organization that supports the intellectual, physical and emotional development of children by partnering with their families for success in school and the community.

Lucky Mutts was the winner, voted for by the public, and recipient of $1,000 and a segment with The Morning Blend. They operate a foster and volunteer based, not-for-profit model, and focus on dogs facing euthanasia due to placement in high kill shelters, overpopulation, abuse and neglect, or owner surrender.

St. Ben's Community Meal was the recipient of $1,000 and a segment on The Morning Blend. This organization serves hot, home-made dinners six nights a week. Over 90,000 meals are served each year. All are welcome to partake and are considered family in a community that shares a warm, safe environment.

Peyton's Smile was the winner, voted for by the public, and recipient of $1,000 and a segment with The Morning Blend. This organization's mission is to provide bereaved parents with an opportunity to ehlp them heal by offering community, emotional and financial support during the months following their tragic loss.

SecureFutures was the recipient of $1,000 and a segment on The Morning Blend. This organization empowers teens through financial education. Their movement of engaging volunteers, dynamic schools and generous supporters share a vision of stronger communities built by an investment in "money smart" teens.

December

One Hope 27 was the winner, voted for by the public, and recipient of $1,000 and an on-location segment with The Morning Blend. This organization's mission is to bring hope to kids and families involved in foster care in Milwaukee County through support and connection with the church and the community around them.

October

Family Sharing of Ozaukee County was the recipient of $1,000 and a segment on The Morning Blend. This organization provides food, at no charge, to people in need in Ozaukee County. All donations of food are distributed directly to those who need it. In addition, they provide clothing, furniture, household items, information and referrals, school supplies, and new winter jackets for kids.

Horse Power Healing Center was the winner, voted for by the public, and recipient of $1,000 and an on-location segment with The Morning Blend. This organization's mission is to provide children and adults who are physically, mentally or emotionally challenged, with healing empowerment through horses. Equine-oriented activities will facilitate the ability of individuals to reach their full potential, by enhancing self-esteem and self-confidence.

July

The Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative (MHVI) was the recipient of $1,000 and a segment on The Morning Blend. Founded and run by veterans, MHVI's mission is to help homeless and at-risk veterans reach and maintain their highest levels of independence. Since 2008 they have served more than 3,500 veterans and their families in southeastern Wisconsin, offering unique programs and partnerships with non-profit agencies.

June

JR's Pups-N-Stuff was the winner, voted for by the public, and recipient of $1,000 and an on-location segment with The Morning Blend. This organization began with one goal in mind - to save animals from life threatening situations. They don't discriminate or rescue dogs based specifically on their breed or age. They rescue animals that need their lives saved. Since it's inception, JR's Pups-N-Stuff has provided more than 8,000 animals with their forever home.

ACTS Housing was the recipient of $1,500 and a segment on The Morning Blend. ACTS Housing makes it possible for low income families to become homeowners. They provide financial counseling, real estate brokerage, rehab expertise, and through ACTS Lending, Inc., rehab loans, so that low income families can viably purchase a home and make it safe and livable. Their job is to make sure all Milwaukee families have the opportunity to transform their own lives and take a stake in their city's future.

Chix 4 A Cause was the winner, voted for by the public, and recipient of $1,000 and an on-location segment with The Morning Blend. This organization provides Gifts of Love to people all over Southeast Wisconsin who are battling cancer. These gifts are unique to the individual/family's needs and may include (but are not limited to) a one-time monetary gift, a mortgage/rent payment, a utility payment, gas cards, a computer, a night out or a weekend away to cleaning services, resource connections, prayer shawls, and emotional support. Whatever it takes, Chix 4 A Cause will be there to help.

January

Mr. Bob's Under the Bridge was the recipient of $1,000 in January. They serve the homeless community in the city of Milwaukee and surrounding communities. Every Saturday morning, "Mr. Bob", Bob Burmeister, and dozens of volunteers gather at Kosciuszko Park on S. 7th St. in Milwaukee, where they distribute a variety of much-needed items to homeless men, women and children. Their fundraising efforts were focused on a portable shower which they have since raised the money for. Congratulations Mr. Bob! And a special thanks to our friends at Mel's Charities for their additional donation of $500 PLUS dozens of new pants.
